# Broad Market Decline Led by Russell 2000; Energy Sector Surges While Utilities Stumble

The stock market closed modestly lower across the board Tuesday, with the Russell 2000 posting the largest percentage drop at –0.76%, followed by the Nasdaq Composite at –0.78%. The S&P 500 held up slightly better, falling just –0.45%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped –0.63%. It was a day of broad pullback rather than sharp selloff, but the breadth reveal was striking: while most major indices declined in lockstep, energy stocks—particularly integrated oil companies—exploded higher, and a handful of individual gainers posted eye-catching moves.

Integrated oil companies posted the day's strongest performance, with an equal-weight average return of +19.2% across eight holdings including Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Marathon Petroleum. The broader Oil & Gas Production sector also climbed, up +6.0% across 52 companies, suggesting a significant rotation into energy. At the same time, Radiant Logistics (RLGT) led all gainers with a +19.5% surge—notable partly because the company just filed its annual report (10-K) yesterday with a respectable Health Score of 59.3. Other large single-day winners included Skyworks Solutions (+13.6%), Qorvo (+9.3%), and several names in life sciences and biotech, hinting at selective strength in semiconductors and specialized instrumentation.

The flip side painted a grimmer picture. Scinai Immunotherapeutics took a hammer blow, falling –36.9%, while Jaguar Health dropped –29.6% and Enova International tumbled –23.4%. The Blank Checks category—often a proxy for early-stage SPAC-backed ventures—collapsed –26.6% as a group. Building Products declined –18.3%, and a clutch of utility-adjacent plays in Water Sewer Pipeline construction fell –18.5%, suggesting defensive rotation out of infrastructure and construction bets. Alignment Healthcare and Dave & Buster's both posted declines near –19%, underlining the scattered nature of the selloff.

On the filing front, six companies released annual reports overnight or over the weekend. Beyond Radiant Logistics' solid score, Gold.com filed with a Health Score of 64.5, while United Natural Foods came in at 42.9. On the flip side, Benitec Biopharma and American Battery Technology posted lower scores (26.4 and 22.8, respectively), a reminder that newly filed results can reveal stress as easily as strength. Separately, five companies remain flagged with going-concern audit notes—Entrada Therapeutics, FS KKR Capital, Bain Capital Specialty Finance, New Mountain Finance, and Innovative Industrial Properties—indicating their auditors have substantial doubt about their ability to continue operating. These flags warrant extra scrutiny for any investor holding or considering positions in those names.

The day's cross-currents—broad-based index weakness alongside sector-specific strength and individual stock volatility—reflect a market still digesting shifting economic narratives. If you're screening for quality holdings, today's filings offer fresh data to review, and the cluster of going-concern flags serves as a useful filter for names to avoid or investigate more deeply.
