# Tech Surge Powers Broad Market Gains; Energy, Biotech Lead as Aerospace Stumbles

The Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.69% today, lifting the broader market to solid gains across all major indices. The S&P 500 climbed 1.14%, the Dow Jones added 0.61%, and the Russell 2000 rose 0.55%—a day when growth stocks clearly outpaced value, yet breadth remained reasonably healthy.

The standout performer was electronics distribution, up 26.9%, driven by a single holding but reflecting appetite for tech-adjacent plays. Precision instruments and integrated oil companies also powered ahead, with the latter up 16.8% across eight names including Chevron and Marathon Petroleum. Biotech laboratory instruments followed at 12.5% across eleven companies, suggesting renewed confidence in diagnostic and analytical tools. Within the day's gainers, Generac Holdings surged 18.3%, Vicor jumped 17.7%, and several biotech names—Indaptus, Greenwich LifeSciences, and Biohaven—posted double-digit percentage gains, though individual biotech stocks saw volatile swings.

The flip side told a different story. Aerospace took a heavy hit, dropping 15% across eleven companies including RTX, Boeing, and Honeywell. Blank checks fell 15.8%, while the water/sewer/pipeline construction sector slid 16%. Multi-sector companies skidded 17.9%, and tobacco—represented by a single name—cratered 20.7%. Jaguar Health led the losers with a 21.3% plunge, while AutoNation, Astrana Health, and Aeluma all shed double digits.

Six companies filed annual 10-K reports this week. Among them, Radiant Logistics (RLGT) and Southern Missouri Bancorp (SMBC) both posted respectable Health Scores of 60.7 and 61.2, respectively—suggesting solid fundamentals on filing. Benitec Biopharma and American Battery Technology, by contrast, filed with Health Scores of 26.3 and 22.8, signaling material balance-sheet or profitability concerns worth reviewing. United Natural Foods posted a 42.6, placing it in the middle of that range.

A separate concern: five companies are currently flagged with going-concern audit notes, indicating auditors have substantial doubt about their ability to continue operating. Entrada Therapeutics, FS KKR Capital, Bain Capital Specialty Finance, New Mountain Finance, and Innovative Industrial Properties all carry that designation. While such flags don't necessarily spell imminent failure, they warrant careful scrutiny.

Today's market reflected a classic risk-on tilt—tech outperformance, energy strength, and weakness in defensive or infrastructure-heavy sectors. If you're using Money Checkup's screener to hunt for stable, fundamentally sound names, today's filings and going-concern data are worth cross-referencing with your Health Score filters to separate the high-quality opportunities from the turnaround plays.
